I am going on 18 years in the Army, 10 years as a M1A2 Abrams crewman, 5 as a combat medic, 2 as a dental assistant and now I am a veterinarian tech working with military working dogs. I deployed to Egypt 2 weeks after 9/11 and then I spent a year guarding a chemical weapons depot.
I was deployed for 2 years in Iraq (the fight for Ramadi and Falujah 2005-06, Diwaniyah 2008-09). I was also with a group 2008-2009 that was responsible for training Iraqi police officers basic military movements, crime scene investigation, and combatives. I then deployed to Afghanistan in 2011-2012 mostly in the mountains north of Kandahar City.
I started boxing when I was 9 years old in Cheyenne, WY. I fought for Thomas Pacheco for one year and was awarded Fighter of the Year for Region 8, amateur fighters, by winning 11 of 12 fights with 7 ko’s.
I then moved to fight with my uncle in Greeley, CO and Salazar Boxing Club. With nearly 100 fights, I placed top three 6 years straight for Silver Gloves Region 8, 3rd National Silver Gloves 1994, and 13th in the Junior Olympics National Ranking, 1996.
I joined the Army in 1999 and helped train the All Army boxing team while not deployed from 2000 to 2004 when I officially walked away from fighting to focus on fighting wars.
I have 3 daughters ages 22, 11 and 7 and yes, they all know how to fight. I have been participating in roller derby going on 4 years. Last year was my rookie year of actually competing in the sport. The first two years was spent being a referee and coaching.
I am in mortgage lending by trade, and also own my own company dealing with art consignment. I have aspirations of one day owning a deli and making sandwiches with an employee base mostly consisting of homeless people looking for a new life.
